HCL are pleased to have achieved accreditation to the SAFEcontractor assassment scheme.
SAFEcontractor is a third party Health and Safety accreditation scheme for contractors dedicated to promoting higher standards of competence and compliance through the provision of Health and Safety assessments for all professions and sectors.
Approval satisfies the qualifications set by some of the UK's major employers and demonstrates our commitment to Health and Safety.
HCL is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Richard Jeffs as Environmental, Health & Safety Manager.
Richard brings with him a wealth of experience gained over many years working within the industry. His valuable knowledge and experience will help improve and maintain HCL’s high standards of workmanship, professionalism and outstanding track record.
HCL has further invested substantial sums to provide our site based managers and operators with the latest in two piece high visibility safety uniforms and ancillary equipment.
This is part of our ongoing creation of the HCL brand and reflects management determination to ensure site safety.
HCL were asked by one of our current clients to supply a range of plant / equipment to a site of special scientific interest for various construction works. Such is our dedication to the environment; each item of plant was filled with state of the art environmentally considerate lubricants prior to delivery. Since this contract we are now looking into replacing standard oils with these new bio-oils – further news to come!
We have also purchased a range of environmentally friendly diesel and oil lube tanks in accordance with our ongoing renewal programme. These new tanks will replace our current bunded tanks within the next two weeks.
Also on an environmental note, having completed an extensive refurbishment to our Head Office, we have turned our attention to our 12 acre SSSI (site of special scientific interest). This land has suffered a lack of care and maintenance prior to our acquisition. We are now preparing a programme of works to reinstate and protect this ecological asset for further generations
HCL constantly strives for excellence in safety; this has been further enhanced by the recent investment of £32,000 in new safety devices for its mining division.
Each machine is now equipped with a Kenwood UHF two-way radio system in order to establish a faster and safer system of communication. Our machines are also fitted with a seatbelt warning system, basically when the clasp is connected to the buckle this switches on a green strobe beacon located on the machine, and our Management Team can then easily monitor and manage seatbelt use.
In addition to this, HCL have procured several SMC mobile tower lighting sets in order of further enhancing a safer working environment throughout the winter months not only within its mining division but will also be utilised within the demolition and dismantling divisions.
HCL has recently commissioned the services of an independent safety consultant to push forward the implementation of safety policies and carry out regular audits of our systems to ensure full compliance with the strictest of rules, not only our own but those of our clients.
